Thurs. 11/26 - Thanksgiving Day dinner with Americans
On Thursday November 26, all schools and businesses will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday. American families gather for a big meal but it is our tradition to also invite guests for our “Thanksgiving feast”. Many Americans I know, especially from my church, would like to invite international students and scholars to their homes for the Thanksgiving meal. Some will be eating around noon while others will eat later in the afternoon or early evening. Some live in Philadelphia but most live either in New Jersey or the suburbs of Philadelphia. For some that live in the suburbs, you may need to take public transportation to the suburbs but your hosts will drive you back to your house in the evening.

If you and/or your friends would like to meet and have Thanksgiving dinner with an American family, please respond by Mon. Nov. 16. I will match you with a family and send you their information by Mon. Nov. 23. You can forward this to your non-American friends.

1. To register please give me the following information
2. Your name
3. Are you male or female?
4. Names of anyone else in your group (2-4 internationals can go to one family)
5. Your native country and countries of others in your group
6. Ages of any children in your group
7. Phone #
8. Do you have a car for transportation
9. Your address if you do not live near U. of Penn or Drexel U.
10. Are you afraid of or allergic to pets in the home?
11. Do you have any food restrictions (allergies or religious restrictions)

Another opportunity is to spend the Thanksgiving weekend with a family in the Lancaster, PA area. Transportation will be provided from International House in Philadelphia to Lancaster. You will leave Philadelphia about noon on Thurs. Nov. 26 and return about 6pm on Sun. Nov. 29. The cost is $40 for international students over age 12. For more information about this weekend, contact Mim Stern 215-222-1609 mimstern@yahoo.com
